Healing Tai Chi Postures

Tai Chi heals the body by sending internal energy flow to each functional organ, via the acupuncture meridians. The movement of each posture in the Form directs chi to a different organ. Some organs are more important than others. Therefore, some of the postures double up and send the energy to the same area. The list below is a small sample of the possible positions and uses of tai chi to heal the body.

This group of Postures act upon the eliminative organs of the body, i.e. colon, large intestine, etc. Also treat constipation.


Single Whip
Treat the digestive tract and heal arthritic joints.

Lift Hands

Treat the liver and makes the spinal column more elastic.

Retreat Shoulder

Treat the central nervous system. Expand the back and chest.

Stork Spreads Wings

Treat the central nervous system and the full length of the vertebrae.

 

Brush Knee and Twist Step

Treat the heart, lower digestive tract and stomach disorders.

Play Guitar

Treat digestive disorders.

 

tep Forward, Deflect Downward, Parry and Punch

Treat the glands.

Apparent Closure and Push

Treat gastric problems.

Carry Tiger and Return to Mountain

Assist gastric-intestinal functions and generally rejuvenate the organs.
