Introduction
Arthritis is the most common chronic degenerative disease in
the world. This can be very painful condition and can affect
both the young and old . Arthritis is known as Vata (air) disease
which involves pain and weakening of the bones.

Vata Symptoms (most common)
• Throbbing pain which can spread
• Stiffness in joints
• Increase in cold weather
• Lower Back Pain, Knee Pain, Hip Pain and Hands and Fingers
commonly affected.
Pita (2nd common)
• Burning sensation and redness of joints
• Increases in warm weather
Kapha (least common)
• Itching and swelling around joints
• Increases in cold weather
• Associated symptoms may be aches, oily skin and puffy
joints.

Botanical Name: Commiphora Mukal
Gum
Introduction: The guggula is one of the most common ayurvedic
treatments for arthritis and for general ayurveda treatment.
Action:
• Increase white blood cell count
• dis-infections secretions in the body
• Decreases joint pain and swelling
• Analgesic (pain relieve)
• Rejuvenation properties
Contra-indications:
• Not recommended for people with kidney disease or acute
rashes.
